Reverse osmosis vs bottled water: your numbers

Enter what you buy and pay for bottled water today, and the costs from a written RO quote. We don't publish prices, so the calculator uses only your numbers.
Your bottled water
Reverse osmosis (from your quote)

How this works

The calculator multiplies your weekly gallons by 52 and by your price per gallon, then compares that with the upfront and yearly costs you enter for reverse osmosis. It shows the first-year and ongoing difference, and how many months until the upfront cost is recovered.

Cost is only half the decision. A reverse osmosis system should be chosen for what it's certified to reduce in your water, sized for your household, and maintained on schedule. Learn more about reverse osmosis or get a written quote to plug in real numbers.

Questions

Why aren't there default prices?

Prices vary by home and system, and we don't publish them. Use your own receipts and a written quote so the comparison reflects your situation.

Does the installation cost count?

Include it in the upfront cost. Installation is quoted separately by the independent licensed plumber, so add both numbers together.

What should go in the yearly cost?

Filter and membrane replacements plus any service plan. Your quote should list the replacement schedule.
