Care Plans
Care Plans that keep your water system doing its job
What a Care Plan includes
- Scheduled filter changes. Cartridges, prefilters and media replaced on the manufacturer's schedule for your system and water use, so you don't have to track it.
- An annual certified-lab retest. Once a year we arrange a sample for a state-certified lab, so you have a real result showing whether the system is still doing what it was chosen to do. See how our water testing works.
- Priority service. When something isn't right, Care Plan customers get priority scheduling. Your written plan spells out how that works.
- Any brand. We service equipment we supplied and equipment you already own, whoever sold it.
Plans are tailored to the equipment you have, so terms and pricing are part of your written quote. Request a quote and tell us what's installed.
Why maintenance matters
EPA's guidance is blunt: filter cartridges wear out and become less effective with use, so they have to be changed on time and maintained according to the manufacturer's instructions.[source] A filter that's overdue isn't just doing less. It can stop doing the job you bought it for without any obvious sign at the tap.
Reverse osmosis
An RO system pushes water through a membrane that rejects many dissolved contaminants.[source] The sediment and carbon prefilters in front of it protect that membrane, and the carbon postfilter polishes taste. When prefilters are neglected, the membrane fouls sooner. A plan keeps prefilters, postfilter and membrane on schedule. More in our reverse osmosis guide.
Carbon filtration
Activated carbon traps contaminants and improves taste and odor,[source] and like any adsorbent it has a finite capacity. Whole-home carbon tanks and under-sink cartridges both need replacement on the manufacturer's schedule. See whole-home filtration for city water.
UV disinfection
UV systems pass water through a chamber with a UV lamp to inactivate bacteria, viruses and protozoa.[source] The lamp needs replacing on the manufacturer's schedule even if it still glows, and the quartz sleeve around it needs cleaning so light reaches the water. UV depends on clear water, so the prefilter matters too. More on UV disinfection for wells.
Water softeners
A softener needs salt (or potassium) added regularly, and its valve, settings and resin bed checked so regeneration still matches your water and household. Wells with iron can foul resin over time, which is one reason the annual lab result is useful. See when a softener makes sense.
How enrollment works
- Step 1
Tell us what you have
System types, brand if you know it, and your water source. Photos of labels help.
- Step 2
Baseline check
We look at the equipment and arrange a certified-lab sample, so the plan starts from a real result.
- Step 3
Written plan and quote
You get the service schedule, what's covered, and the price in writing before you agree to anything.
- Step 4
Scheduled visits and an annual retest
We handle filter changes on schedule and share each year's lab results with you in plain English.
What a Care Plan doesn't do
- It doesn't turn the wrong system into the right one. If your lab result shows a problem your equipment wasn't built for, we'll say so and explain the options.
- It doesn't promise outcomes beyond what's in your written plan. What's covered is spelled out there.
- It doesn't include plumbing work. If a repair or replacement means changing your plumbing, that's done by a licensed plumber under a separate agreement. How installation works.
Questions we hear
Do you service systems you didn't sell?
Yes. Care Plans cover any brand. Tell us what's installed when you request a quote, and include photos of the labels if you can.
How often will filters be changed?
On the manufacturer's schedule for your specific system and water use. That varies by system type and model, so your written plan lists it.
Why include a lab test every year?
Because you can't see whether a system is still working. A certified-lab result is the only real check. For wells, NC DHHS also recommends annual bacteria testing.[source]
How much does a Care Plan cost?
It depends on the equipment being maintained, so we quote it in writing. We don't publish prices online. See our packages for how plans fit with each system.
Where we serve
Start with an honest answer about your water.
Tell us about your home and water source. We'll recommend testing first, and only the equipment your results support.
