What's in your water? Look it up by ZIP
How this works
Each ZIP's center point is matched against EPA's map of community water-system service areas (EPA), the same method our town pages use. Where a utility is found, we show figures read from its own annual water quality report. Every number links to its source on the town page.
A ZIP can span more than one system, and service lines don't follow ZIP borders, so your water bill is the final word. If no system is mapped at your ZIP's center, many homes there likely use private wells. Start with our well water guide and a certified-lab test.
Questions
Why does it say 'likely' for some utilities?
Some service-area boundaries, especially in South Carolina, are modeled by EPA rather than drawn by the state or utility. Modeled lines can miss edges, so check your water bill.
My ZIP shows a utility, but I'm on a well. Why?
ZIP codes are large and water lines don't reach every road. If you don't receive a water bill, you're almost certainly on a private well.
Is the data current?
Utility figures come from each utility's 2025-data annual report, published in 2026. We update them when new reports come out.
